Above is the original footage which we shot of a pocket watch which we thought looked quite retro and we also that it could be a similar shot to one we might use in our actual film.

This shot is the first shot which we attempted using after effects on, our plan was to turn the footage from colour into black and white and also to try to put some dust, dirt or scratches onto it. We had success in making the footage into black and white, we did this buy desaturating it completely and then we increased the contrast and decreased the opacity.

This version of our shot shows how we experimented with the footage to try and make it more saturated. It is clear that certain colours such as the golds and the pinks are much more vibrant than in either of the previous clips. We did this by increasing the saturation on the specific colours which we wanted to stand out by using Adobe's After Effects.

This clip shows an experiment which we did using After Effects which didn't exactly go to plan. We were trying to put dirt and scratches on our footage so we decided to try to add grain to the layer. Unfortunately we had no success by adding grain so we instead decided to use fractual noise which is how we ended up with this footage. Although this clip did not come out how we wanted it to, we do believe that this a step in the right direction.

For this clip we attempted to create a sepia tint for our film. We found this effect quite difficult to do, we had to change the saturation, the opacity, the contrast and the colour correction. Despite this we are very happy with the sepia tint which we created in this clip. We think that it could be used in a clip that is related to the 60's ot maybe the 70's, we also thought that the effect we got looks quite similar to the effect that is used in the "Summer of Love" sequnce in Matthew Vaughn's "Layer Cake".

"The Falling Man" by Andrew Perry

We found this film while at an open day at Bucks New University. While looking at the Film and T.V. Production course at the university we were handed a Film showcase by one of the lecturers. When  we got home we watched all of the short films on the showcase to see what type of films they made at the university. We were pleasently surprised when we found this film as we think that it has quite a few similarities to our idea for our own film.
The film starts inside a woman's house. she seems to be moving out and her family are helpimg her to get some of her loft. Her grandson finds a diary and hands it to her. The diary turns out to belng to someone whom she once knew. the film then shows flashbacks from her past.
We thought that this narrative was very similar to our idea because it follows an eldery person who finds a diary of someone she once knew but has since died and because it shows flashbacks from different eras and it also uses the same props such as the record player.
Our film differs due to the fact that the film won't relate to an anecdote about a man who fell from the sky but instead it will focus more on the relationship between a widow and her late husband.
